Sacraments

There are seven sacraments in our Church:  Baptism, Reconciliation (Penance), Eucharist, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders, and Anointing of the Sick.

BAPTISM
Baptism is the sacrament that frees man from original sin and from personal guilt and that makes him a member of Christ and His Church.  It is the first sacrament and the first step one takes in their spiritual life.  Baptism is the sacrament by which we are born again of water and the Holy Ghost.

Preparation classes will be made available to parents.

RECONCILIATION
The sacrament of Confession is one in which we reconcile ourselves with God after we commit the act of sin and, having a repentant heart, desire to be reunited in faith with God.

Preparations for a communal experience of Reconciliation will take place in the third grade year for children.  Contact the Parish Office for more information.

Saturday:  2:30pm-3:30pm
Parish Penance services  are celebrated by the parish during the Advent and Lenten seasons.

EUCHARIST
The Holy Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.  They were given to us by Christ so that we may enter into union with Him and His Love.  The Eucharist removes our venial sins from our soul and is a great aid in avoiding the temptation to commit mortal sins.  The Holy Eucharist is composed of the bread and the wine, which are consecrated by the priest into the body and blood of Jesus at Mass.

Children in the second grade will be eligible to begin the preparation for First Eucharist.

CONFIRMATION
During this sacrament the Holy Ghost is given to those already baptized in order to make them stronger and perfect Christians.

Confirmation will take place in the Jr. High years.

MARRIAGE

ANOINTING OF THE SICK
This is a sacrament to give spiritual aid and comfort and perfect spiritual health, including remission of sins,  to Christians who are seriously ill.
